BRAHMA NAKHA TULASI
In the culture of Jagannath, “Brahma Nakha Tulasi Lagi” is a very secret, sacred, and spiritually significant ritual. It is different from the ordinary Tulasi offering and is directly connected with the divine “Brahma” present within the Lord.
Important points about this special service:
1. What is Brahma Nakha Tulasi?
Inside the heart of the sacred idol of Lord Jagannath resides the “Nishabda Brahma” or “Gupta Brahma” (mystical divine essence). According to tradition, during the service of the Lord’s body—especially during Badasringara Niti or certain darshan periods—the Tulasi leaves that are placed near the nails of the Lord’s holy feet are known as “Brahma Nakha Tulasi.”

-
Connection with Nabakalebara: During the sacred ritual of Nabakalebara, when the divine Brahma is transferred from the old idol to the new one, Tulasi also plays an important role. The term “Brahma Nakha” symbolizes the eternal divine power of the Lord.
